This year's offering.....

Yes, it's that time of year again when in this house at least , the terrier gets on the cake.......
Happy Christmas to all - if anybody has been looking for Sparky, he sends his apologies - it is a stressful time for the domestic dog. He has been too busy keeping an anxious eye on oven, fridge and larder to have time to devote to professional matters. He will return with more of his useful tips in the New Year.......

Sunday 2 December 2012

No discrimination here!

There has been a terrible omission at the Terriers' Club!
It has been drawn to my attention that whilst the club is awash with white bull terriers; no handsome tan, tricoloured, black and white or brindle specimens are to be seen.....
Forgive me, my heart was lost to a white bull terrier and who could blame me?

However, it has been duly noted and I shall right the wrong!

A personal recommendation....

I have just spent a happy half hour with some tubes of glitter and some glue - something I haven't done since I was about ten. Great fun - I recommend it.....

A Design Classic.....

I am obviously biased but has anybody else noticed the similarity in line between the "most beautiful car of all time" - the Citroen DS and the perfect profile of an English Bull Terrier?
However, I am talking style here not aerodynamics or even cornering........

Better late than never.......

It's been a while coming, but then that's the life of a professional shrink. Too many consultations, lecture tours, too little time.....
More to follow!

Contrary to appearances........

From the evidence here, it might just look like we've let things slide a bit!
In fact, Sparky has been hard at work putting together the fourth volume of his collected wisdom, shortly to be published..........
It can take its toll on a terrier.

Wish you were here.....

Sparky has been to a wedding on the Greek island of Santorini. Note how the blue sky and iconic bell tower show off his profile to great advantage.

He will return with more tips on Sunday, probably a little pinker than before.......

1066 and all that........?

Startling new evidence of the real debt we in England owe to the Normans.....

Sparky Update!

Sparky, as his friends and disciples will know has been suffering from a bad case of ennui.

To lift his spirits, he took a rest cure in Normandy. Thankfully, the combination of sea air and fine cuisine (moules frites and camembert) has seen a return to his usual ebullience. Though the comment by a total stranger that he had "les oreilles de lapin" (rabbit's ears) and was a "chien bizarre" did little to improve international relations.

His weekly advice will resume shortly.........

Breaking news.......

Online sage, Sparky, known for his profound insights on contemporary living, has been forced to rest!

Those familiar with Sparky, may have noticed his increasingly glum outlook and an inappropriate devil may care attitude.

He plans to return in two weeks time after a restorative trip to Normandy.
More later.......

Help Napoleon .......

I have been sent a link by a distressed Boston Terrier owner whose dog Napoleon lost an eye due to misdiagnosis by the vet. She is trying to raise money to pay the huge bill for the emergency surgery which ensued.

Here is the link for more information if you would like to help

Strange company.....

and some people say that bull terriers are difficult!

Terrier Britannicus sum

A fragment of floor from a Roman villa in England.........
Roman legions marched the lengths and breadths of Britain, feeling the cold round their Italian knees. Meanwhile the EBT sits about on mosaic pavements waiting for dinner.

A Greek Myth.......

Europa (for this is she) was according to legend abducted by Zeus in the form of a bull and taken to Crete where the bull was central to the sacred culture.
Oft told tales have the tendency to corrupt the truth. Straining behind the leash, the light wind teasing her Grecian curls and tugging at her chiton she may just have provoked mild amusement as she was tugged along the seafront at Heraklion behind a pair of determined bull terriers.....

Another gent at his club......

This is the usual sort of carry on at a gentleman's club or so we are led to believe. Clearly, the Terriers' is not this sort of establishment

Introducing the real Sparky.....

This week Sparky in set to squash all speculation about his identity by publishing this photo (which shows his best side). He might also say that the shadow reinforces that iconic profile if he were not so modest.
Here he is relaxing on his English lawn after a few morning's press-ups to keep him in splendid shape.

Sparky currently lives in Cheshire, England. He likes toast with Marmite, sleeping in the sun and is very fast over short distances or if there is a cat involved.

Generous in spirit, he likes to share his observations on life. These are available as postcards http://www.etsy.com/listing/90917709/sparkys-tips-postcard-set-6-postcards-in

Watch our for more of his advice coming soon....

Some tails from ancient Greece

Well, I think I must have nodded off on this sofa in the depths of the Club library. The weighty tome that was keeping me riveted has slipped onto the Persian rug. That's what a little culture, a warm fire and deep upholstery does for you......

I will skip hastily through a few millennia to the heart of civilisation where here we see fragments of early Greek pottery. The evidence, you must agree, is mounting.
